SEF would like to thank everyone who voted on the design they wanted for a Stretford End Banner to pay tribute to Sir Alex Ferguson's 25 years as Manchester United manager. The majority of people (over 95%) chose the following design
SEF will have this banner in place on The Stretford End for the Sunderland home game on the 5th November (The day before Sir Alex's 25th anniversary as United manager). We want to make this banner the longest Stretford End banner ever made, filling the whole length of the Stretford End tier, this will cost £3,600 to produce and as such, we encourage all Manchester United supporters to donate towards this banners cost. All banners are funded by donations from Manchester United Fans. Donations can be made via paypal by paying JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING or see our donations page for info on how you can send a cheque.
The actual finished banner design will be formatted to make the fonts clearer and to ensure the trophies are in the order that Sir Alex has won them.
The 6th November 2011 marks 25 years since Sir Alex Ferguson took over as Manchester United manager. To mark the occasion SEF sought banner design ideas from Manchester United fans and we would like to thank everyone who submitted a banner design idea.
We will have this banner in place on The Stretford End for the Sunderland home game on the 5th November. This date falls one day before the 6th November when Sir Alex Ferguson joined Manchester United as manager back in 1986.
We have shortlisted the banner voting down to two designs.
Each design is a rough mock up and images, fonts, spacing etc may change on the final design in order to produce the most effective banner. Please consider the wording, rather the actual mock up when casting your vote.
Design 1 - Fergies Impossible Dream.
This banner incorporates each of the trophies, in the order they have been won by Sir Alex Ferguson since he joined Manchester United. "The Impossible Dream" is one of Sir Alex's favourite songs and a song that he requested be played as an anthem of Manchester United. The observant amongst you would have heard this played before recent Premier League home games.
Design 2 - 25 years of Fergie, a Silverware Anniversary
Again, this banner design takes into account all of the trophies that Sir Alex has won as Manchester United manager. 25 years is known as the Silver Anniversary and this banner design plays on that with "Silverware Anniversary".
The images on this design will probably change to present images similar to those in option one.
Voting takes place on the SEF FLAG FORUM and voting will be open for 7 days (Until the 5th October) and anyone can sign up to vote.
This banner will be one of the longest banners ever made by SEF and will cover approximately a half to 2/3rds of The Stretford End. As such, this banner is likely to cost in the region of over £1,000. Therefore we require fans donations to make this banner a reality. Fans can donate via paypal by paying JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING or visiting the donation page for info on how to send a cheque.
On the 6th November 1986, Alex Ferguson walked through the doors of Old Trafford with his mission of transforming Manchester United. As the 25th anniversary of this date fast approaches, Stretford End Flags are looking for banner ideas to pay tribute to a man who has become the most successful British manager of all time and a man who has transformed the fortunes of Manchester United - Sir Alex Ferguson.
SEF seek YOUR ideas for a special banner to celebrate the achievement of Sir Alex and to mark his 25 years at the club. This banner will be in place for the Manchester United home game against Sunderland on the 5th November. One plan is to produce a banner that spreads the full length of The Stretford End tier and will fill all of the available banner space. Manchester United Supporters can submit ideas for the design on the Flag forum here or send ideas via email to JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING The best 3 banner designs will be submitted for a supporter vote, with the winning design being made. We envisage that this banner will cost over £1,000 to produce (Exact price will be known once the design has been finalised) and we encourage all supporters to donate towards this banner.
Stretford End Flags were approached by Paul Scholes to design a mosaic for his testimonial. SEF sought ideas from our forum and several supporters submitted ideas for a mosaic. SEF came up with an idea based on the word "GENIUS" and presented this idea to Paul. As modest as he ever is, Paul's response was "Genius, where has that come from!", but we at SEF are sure that all Manchester United fans will agree with this assessment of one of the clubs best ever players.
The mosaic was laid out along North Stand for the Paul Scholes Testimonial against New York Cosmos on Friday 5th August. The mosaic can be seen below.
Now the fixtures have been released for the 2011/21 season, Manchester Supporters are casting an eye in anticipation towards next season. Stretford End Flags plan to have a new banner in place on the front of The Stretford End in time for the first home game against Spurs. SEF seek ideas for a new banner from You and all Manchester United supporters are encouraged to submit their idea. Ideally, we are looking for something to celebrate our 19th title, being Champions and the success that Sir Alex Ferguson has brought. Ideas can be submitted on the SEF Flags forum, either through a design mock up or a description of your idea. The best 3 designs will then be put up for a vote, with the winning banner being made.
Manchester United supporters are also encouraged to donate towards the cost of a new banner, which is expected to be in the region of £450. All Stretord End banners are funded by You, the Manchester United Supporters. For info on how to donate, please see our donation link page.
Streford End Flags have also been asked by Paul Scholes to design and implement a mosaic for his testimonial match on August 5th and again we seek your ideas for this design.
