On the 6th November 1986, Alex Ferguson walked through the doors of Old Trafford with his mission of transforming Manchester United. As the 25th anniversary of this date fast approaches, Stretford End Flags are looking for banner ideas to pay tribute to a man who has become the most successful British manager of all time and a man who has transformed the fortunes of Manchester United - Sir Alex Ferguson.
SEF seek YOUR ideas for a special banner to celebrate the achievement of Sir Alex and to mark his 25 years at the club. This banner will be in place for the Manchester United home game against Sunderland on the 5th November. One plan is to produce a banner that spreads the full length of The Stretford End tier and will fill all of the available banner space. Manchester United Supporters can submit ideas for the design on the Flag forum here or send ideas via email to JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING The best 3 banner designs will be submitted for a supporter vote, with the winning design being made. We envisage that this banner will cost over £1,000 to produce (Exact price will be known once the design has been finalised) and we encourage all supporters to donate towards this banner.
Stretford End Flags were approached by Paul Scholes to design a mosaic for his testimonial. SEF sought ideas from our forum and several supporters submitted ideas for a mosaic. SEF came up with an idea based on the word "GENIUS" and presented this idea to Paul. As modest as he ever is, Paul's response was "Genius, where has that come from!", but we at SEF are sure that all Manchester United fans will agree with this assessment of one of the clubs best ever players.
The mosaic was laid out along North Stand for the Paul Scholes Testimonial against New York Cosmos on Friday 5th August. The mosaic can be seen below.
Now the fixtures have been released for the 2011/21 season, Manchester Supporters are casting an eye in anticipation towards next season. Stretford End Flags plan to have a new banner in place on the front of The Stretford End in time for the first home game against Spurs. SEF seek ideas for a new banner from You and all Manchester United supporters are encouraged to submit their idea. Ideally, we are looking for something to celebrate our 19th title, being Champions and the success that Sir Alex Ferguson has brought. Ideas can be submitted on the SEF Flags forum, either through a design mock up or a description of your idea. The best 3 designs will then be put up for a vote, with the winning banner being made.
Manchester United supporters are also encouraged to donate towards the cost of a new banner, which is expected to be in the region of £450. All Stretord End banners are funded by You, the Manchester United Supporters. For info on how to donate, please see our donation link page.
Streford End Flags have also been asked by Paul Scholes to design and implement a mosaic for his testimonial match on August 5th and again we seek your ideas for this design.
Stretford End Flags laid out a mosaic at Wembley for the Champions league final.
The lower tier of the Manchester United section spelt out the wording "SPIRIT OF 68" in a reflective silver on a red background.
The upper tier of the Manchester United section, formed a Red/White/Black Manchester United bar scarf design, as was used for the Champions League semi final victory at Old Trafford against Schalke.
The idea for these designs were taken from fans ideas submitted on the Stretford End Flags FORUM and SEF would like to thank all supporters who suggested an idea.
Streford End Flags were very honoured to be asked by Gary Neville to design a mosaic for his testimonial game against Juventus. We decided to use an image of Gary Neville himself, with the words to his terrace chant "IS A Red" and this was laid out onto The Streford End. The detail into arranging the image of Gary Nevilles face was very complex and that alone took several hours, using card rather than the usual plastic sheets. Gary Neville took time out on his busy day, to met the team of SEF volunteers who were laying out his mosaic. The held up design can be seen below. All at SEF would like to thank Gary for all the memories and good times he has given each and every United fan over the years.
