Stretford End Flags were approached by Paul Scholes to design a mosaic for his testimonial. SEF sought ideas from our forum and several supporters submitted ideas for a mosaic. SEF came up with an idea based on the word "GENIUS" and presented this idea to Paul. As modest as he ever is, Paul's response was "Genius, where has that come from!", but we at SEF are sure that all Manchester United fans will agree with this assessment of one of the clubs best ever players.
The mosaic was laid out along North Stand for the Paul Scholes Testimonial against New York Cosmos on Friday 5th August. The mosaic can be seen below.
Now the fixtures have been released for the 2011/21 season, Manchester Supporters are casting an eye in anticipation towards next season. Stretford End Flags plan to have a new banner in place on the front of The Stretford End in time for the first home game against Spurs. SEF seek ideas for a new banner from You and all Manchester United supporters are encouraged to submit their idea. Ideally, we are looking for something to celebrate our 19th title, being Champions and the success that Sir Alex Ferguson has brought. Ideas can be submitted on the SEF Flags forum, either through a design mock up or a description of your idea. The best 3 designs will then be put up for a vote, with the winning banner being made.
Manchester United supporters are also encouraged to donate towards the cost of a new banner, which is expected to be in the region of £450. All Stretord End banners are funded by You, the Manchester United Supporters. For info on how to donate, please see our donation link page.
Streford End Flags have also been asked by Paul Scholes to design and implement a mosaic for his testimonial match on August 5th and again we seek your ideas for this design.
Stretford End Flags laid out a mosaic at Wembley for the Champions league final.
The lower tier of the Manchester United section spelt out the wording "SPIRIT OF 68" in a reflective silver on a red background.
The upper tier of the Manchester United section, formed a Red/White/Black Manchester United bar scarf design, as was used for the Champions League semi final victory at Old Trafford against Schalke.
The idea for these designs were taken from fans ideas submitted on the Stretford End Flags FORUM and SEF would like to thank all supporters who suggested an idea.
Streford End Flags were very honoured to be asked by Gary Neville to design a mosaic for his testimonial game against Juventus. We decided to use an image of Gary Neville himself, with the words to his terrace chant "IS A Red" and this was laid out onto The Streford End. The detail into arranging the image of Gary Nevilles face was very complex and that alone took several hours, using card rather than the usual plastic sheets. Gary Neville took time out on his busy day, to met the team of SEF volunteers who were laying out his mosaic. The held up design can be seen below. All at SEF would like to thank Gary for all the memories and good times he has given each and every United fan over the years.
As the team walked out at Old Trafford for the final Premier league game of the season, the Manchester United players walked out to the SEF mosaic that filled 3 sides of Old Trafford, highlighting the "19" and being "Champions". The mosaic can be seen in the picture below and more images will be added to our gallery page.
SEF would like to congratulate Manchester United and the players on achieving number 19.
In order to mark this record achievement, SEF in conjunction with Manchester United will be doing a special 19 mosaic along the 3 lower tiers of Stretford/North/East stands of Old Trafford for the final league game against Blackpool.
Stretford End Flags are also looking for new banner designs to mark the 19th title and welcome ideas from all fans. We hope to have this banner made in time for the start of next season. Ideas can be submitted on our flag forum. As with all the banners on the Stretford End and all of our large flags, we rely on financial donations from Manchester United supporters in order to fund these, all banners are supporter funded and supporter owned. Every little donation helps and info on how YOU can DONATE can be found here
Donations are currently needed to fund a new large stick 4m x4m flag to be made for the Blackpool game. (This will cost £380 plus £30 for the poles).
Stretford End Flags have also had the following flag made in a 4m x 3m size. This will be used at the Blackpool game, a day which would have been George Best's 65th birthday. SEF are grateful to the artist Stewart Beckett for allowing his image to be used. This flag has cost SEF £380 plus £45 for the poles, so all donations towards this are much welcome.
Stretford End Flags will also be doing a mosaic for the Manchester United at at the European Cup Final at Wembley and will hopefully be doing a mosaic to pay tribute to Gary Neville at his testimonial on Tuesday 24th May at Old Trafford, tickets for Gary's testimonial are still on general sale through the Manchester United ticket office.
